Frequently Asked Questions |

Q: I enrolled my child in the Basic Program. Is there anything else I need to do? |
A: Yes. One of the most important things you can do is support your child. Be positive. Let him/her know they’re doing well in class even if they seem awkward or uncoordinated. A student who receives positive parental support and praise will always try their best. Also, let the instructors do the teaching. Parents may think they are helping by correcting their child or criticizing their punches or kicks, but are actually demotivating them. Our instructors have long experience in developing proper behavior and technique, and will work to bring out the best in every student. |

Q: My child needs structure and discipline. Will Tae Kwon Do provide this? |
A: Yes. At Martial Arts Advantage we teach traditional Tae Kwon Do principles as well as kicking and punching. We call those principles the Tenets of Tae Kwon Do. They are: Courtesy, Integrity, Perseverance, Self-Control and Indomitable Spirit and are the foundation of what we teach. Parents and teachers often notice a considerable improvement in behavior after only a short while. Many parents have their child enrolled with us because we teach the same things they feel are important for their child’s development. |

Q: I’ve enrolled in the Basic Program, and have seen other students in the Leadership Club, how can I enroll? |
A: The Leadership Program is a very prestigious program for those looking for more cross training and leadership skills to augment their lives. Once Mr. Kuntz recognizes your work ethic and desire to become a leader here at the Academy and throughout our community, you’ll be invited to enroll. |

Q: What are the stripes some students have on their belts? |
A: We keep track of a student’s progress by using a system of stripes as rewards for accomplishment. Each stripe means the student knows a specific thing or can perform a certain exercise. This lets the student keep track of and take pride in the progress he/she is making. A new stripe also gives the parent an opportunity to praise the child for his/her achievement. Although a stripe may be awarded at any time, proper attitude and a diligent work ethic are taken into consideration first. |

Q: What do I do when my child has finished the Beginner Student course and wants to continue? |
A: Set some short term goals (i.e.- first new rank of yellow belt)with your child to help them understand the commitment and desire needed to attain the rank of the prestigious Black Belt. This will shape your child’s behavior and mindset of proper goal setting. Then talk to Mr. Kuntz about committing to the next level. |
